Lenox Elementary Welcomes Guest Author Suma Subramaniam

Lenox Elementary students had a special assembly last Friday to kick off Read Across America month with guest author/speaker Suma Subramaniam who read her beautifully illustrated children's book, The Runaway Dosa*. In her own words...

I had the honor of visiting Lenox Elementary School on Friday, February 26th, 2024. Mrs. Jhansi Kovvuri, one of the teachers, said she knew every word of my picture book, THE RUNAWAY DOSA by heart because she’d read it to the children more than 20 times. The kids had SO much to say! Here are a few of them.

“I love dosas with coconut chutney.”

“I visited Bangalore.”

“I knew it. The rock in the book was not a rock!”

“I can speak Tamil, too, but I’m shy to speak it.”

“Will there be another dosa book?”

“Can you write book-2? We want to know what happens next!”

My heart is full. Connecting with students, educators, and readers of all backgrounds is the most rewarding aspect of my writing life. Thank you for having me!
