Oregon Battle of the Books OBOB
What is the Battle of the Books/OBOB?
OBOB (Oregon Battle of the Books) is a statewide reading competition for students in 3rd-12th grades. There are three different divisions based on grade level. 3rd-5th, 6th-8th, and 9th-12th. Each division has teams made up of 4-5 students.
Teams will battle against each other in a bracket style competition by answering questions about the books and earning points. The team with the most points wins and moves on to the next round. Battles start locally in school and the winning team from each school moves on to regional battles to compete against the other teams in the region. The winners from the regional battles move on to the state battle, where ultimately an OBOB State Champion is announced.
Lenox had 5 teams of 3rd-5th graders this year. Those divisions are also given a pre-selected list of 16 books they are required to read and comprehend. This year, our region's battle takes place on March 18th and Lenox is sending the Brilliant Book Readers to compete.
